Heidi is particularly interested in how birds occupy a painted space. Her intention is not to reproduce natural behaviour precisely, but to allow each bird to take on a character of its own. The loose, suggested habitats provide a setting without becoming overly descriptive, keeping the subject firmly centre stage.
