Solid gold is made to be worn and enjoyed, but it isn’t indestructible. Scratches, small surface marks and gradual changes to the finish can naturally develop through everyday wear.
Everyday wear
Gold is a relatively soft precious metal, and its surface can mark when it comes into contact with harder materials.
Rings and bracelets tend to experience more wear than earrings or necklaces because they are more frequently exposed to surfaces, objects and everyday activities.
We recommend removing your gold jewellery before:
- exercising or playing sport
- swimming or using a hot tub
- cleaning or using household chemicals
- gardening or DIY
- lifting heavy objects
- showering or bathing
- activities where the jewellery may be knocked, crushed, pulled or caught.
