This original oil painting on canvas encased in a white box frame is the work of local artist Sophie M Cook. Sophie’s work is currently being exhibited as part of KATA Jewellery’s Spring/Summer exhibition ‘Natural Impressions’. Never painting from photographs of flowers, Sophie works only with seasonal blooms. The subjects of her painting change depending on which flowers are out in her garden. Only working with fresh flowers, her subject matter is very fleeting, giving a nod to the fragility and transience of the natural world around us. Using perfectly considered tonal ranges of colour Sophie captures and explores the complexity of her garden’s natural forms.

Sophie’s paintings bring impact to any space, her use of thematic colour pallets and textual brushstrokes capture seasonal blooms with an ethereal softness, sitting well in home interiors.
